Rear Window Essay
The movie, Rear Window, is one of Alfred Hitchcock’s greatest movies of all time. Alfred Hitchcock is known as the “Master Of Suspense.” There are three things that were suspenseful in the movie. One was the neighbor, Lars Thorwald, because his wife appeared to be dead. The second thing was when the dog was killed by Lars Thorwald. The third thing was when Lars Thorwald attacked the main character, Mr. Jeffries.
The first thing that was suspenseful was when the neighbor’s wife was suspected to be dead. She was suspected to be dead because her husband had been taking mysterious trips outside his apartment at midnight. Another thing was that the husband would play around with saws and knives. Also, there were two delivery men that had supposedly shipped off a crate that contained Mrs. Thorwald’s body. Lastly, Mrs. Thorwald left her favorite purse behind and all of her jewelry including her wedding ring.
The second thing that was suspenseful was when the dog was killed. This part was very suspenseful and shocking because in this scene, every thing is calm and then, a loud scream was heard from the background. It was the owner of the dog yelling at all of the other neighbors saying, “Which one of you guys killed my dog?” The only person who didn’t come to the window was Mr. Thorwald. Once again everything leads to Mr. Thorwald.
The last thing that was suspenseful was when Mr. Thorwald attacked Mr. Jeffries.
It was really scary because the reason Mr. Thorwald came over was because Mr. Jeffries’ girlfriend went into Mr. Thorwald’s house. Thorwald walked in and noticed that everything was moved around. Mr. Jeffries flashed Mr. Thorwald a couple of times with his camera to distract him. Then, Mr. Thorwald took Mr. Jeffries and through him out the window. Mr. Thorwald was taken to jail.
This has been a very great movie to watch over and over. It has kept me guessing and held my attention throughout the entire movie. The actors were great in their roles and the movie was very well written. Even though the movie is old, it is one of my favorites. In conclusion, this movie is a great film packed with suspense.
